Time Well Spent
A lament I hear often is “I want to be more religious, but I don’t have time.” There is always time for God in your life. You would be surprised how easy you can fit Him into your daily routine. Even reading the Bible can become part of your daily routine.
If you’re truly pressed for time, as many working people are, then try to use your time more wisely. If you’re too tired to read passages of the Bible each night, try listening to audio bibles on your commute to and from work. Can’t make it to church every Sunday? Record one of the many television worships or radio programs and watch or listen when you have a spare moment. There are so many ways you can incorporate Christian learning into your routine.
Septuagint Bible Origins
The Septuagint, also referred to as LXX, is the Koine Greek version of the Old Testament. The Hebrew Bible was translated in stages between the third and second centuries BC in Alexandria, so it could be included in the great library. It is the oldest translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek. (Greek was the predominant language of the eastern Mediterranean Basin from the time of Alexander the Great).
Even in ancient times the Septuagint bible was met with great respect. Philo and Josephus even ascribed divine inspiration to its authors. The LXX is also the basis for Old Armenian, Old Georgian, and Coptic versions of the Old Testament. While not all denominations of Christianity still use the Septuagint as the primary source of translation, it still holds great significance in the faith because it is quoted often in the New Testament by the Apostolic Fathers.
